Bin Laden's demise: US rejoices after a decade

After almost a decade of anger and fear, America rejoice Monday at the termination of Osama bin Laden, the terror brain at the rear the horrific 9/11 attacks. U.S. sends drones to Libya as battle rages for Misrata

Pakistan raises oil prices, fueling anger

Pakistan hiked oil prices by 9.9 percent Tuesday, a shift that threatens the stability of the easily broken, U.S.-allied civilian government at a time of financial turmoil in the poor country.

Spikes in international oil market prices urged by uprisings in Libya and other parts of North Africa and the Middle East forced the heave in Pakistani prices, said Jawad Nasim, a spokesman for the country's oil watchdog. The price of a liter (0.26 gallon) of petrol went from 72.96 rupees (85 cents) to 80.19 rupees (94 cents).

Resistance parties and even some associates of Pakistan's governing coalition right away denounced the raise.

Haider Abbas Rizvi, a elder member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, said the price boost was offensive because it would further weigh down Pakistan citizens, who are already struggling to deal with double-digit increase and chronic power deficiency.

Suicide attack at Pakistan army facility kills 10

A suicide mugger attacked a group of soldiers through their morning aerobics at an army working out camp in northwest Pakistan on Thursday, killing as a minimum 10 soldiers, sanctuary officials said.

US threatens to cut aid to Pakistan

US parliament members have threatened to stop aid to Pakistan if not it releases an American under arrest over gunfire deaths of two Pakistani men. As the US increased heaviness on Pakistan on Tuesday, it had previously warned about the risk to high-level discussion if Pakistan released Raymond Davis, a US government employee.

Davis was arrested on January 27 after shooting two Pakistanis. He said he acted in self-defense fear they would rob him. A third Pakistani was run over and killed by a US consulate vehicle that had come to help Davis, according to police.

The event set off protests in Pakistan, where anti-US feeling has extended runs high. Shumaila Faheem, the widow of one of the two men who was shot dead by Davis, dedicated suicide on Sunday by taking poison. Many observers have question whether Davis was a normal civil servant.

Car bomb kills nine in Pakistan's Peshawar: hospital

Pakistan a car bomb killed nine people and injured one more 19 in a busy marketplace in Pakistan's northwestern city of Peshawar on Wednesday, a hospital head said.

"We have conservative nine dead bodies. There are three children and one woman in the middle of the dead," Abdul Hamid Afridi, the head of Peshawar's main Lady interpretation Hospital, told AFP.

"19 people were also offended. Children and women are amid the offended as well."

In Pakistan Peshawar city police force chief Liaquat Ali Khan definite the death toll, but said 21 people had been upset in the attack.
