Strauss-Kahn faces new sexual assault complaint

strauss-kahn

A French novelist will file a protest on Tuesday accusing Dominique Strauss-Kahn of attempted rape, her lawyer said, raising the view of a new sex assault investigation starting just as the U.S. case alongside the former International Monetary Fund chief falters.

The announcement threw Strauss-Kahn's legal position in his home country into question, and injected fresh uncertainty into a national debate concerning whether he will be able to return to his political job and enter the 2012 presidential race.

Strauss-Kahn went on the offensive alongside his French accuser Tuesday evening, saying through his legal team that he designed to file his own criminal complaint of slander against her. The sexual assault case alongside Strauss-Kahn in New York was badly weakened last week by prosecutors' publicly expressing worries about the credibility of the hotel maid who accused him of forcing her to execute oral sex.

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn pleaded not responsible on Monday to charges he sexually assaulted a New York hotel maid in a case that price him his job and a opportunity at the French presidency.

Wearing a dark suit, Strauss-Kahn arrived at the courthouse with his wife, French television journalist Anne Sinclair, walking beside him, arm-in-arm. They were flanked by two private security guards hired to prevent him from skipping bail.

The couples walk past a throng of media and a large crowd of hotel workers there in solidarity with the female who said Strauss-Kahn attacked her. "Shame on you," they chanted. Strauss-Kahn, 62, faces up to 25 years in prison if convict on charges as well as attempt rape, sex abuse, a criminal sex act, unlawful custody and forcible touching.

IMF chief under suicide watch at NYC jail

http://news-updations.blogspot.com/

IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn was placed under a suicide watch in jail, while weight mounted on him to leave Tuesday and the hotel maid who accused him of attempted rape said from end to end her lawyer that she had no idea who he was when she reports him to the police.

Law enforcement officials emphasize that Strauss-Kahn had not tried to harm himself except that guards were keeping a shut watch on him just in case.

In the interim, information began to emerge about his complainant, a 32-year-old migrant from the West African nation of Guinea with a 15-year-old daughter.

"There is no way in which there is any feature of this occasion which could be construed consensual in any mode. This is not anything other than a physical, sexual assault by this man on this little woman," her lawyer, Jeffrey Shapiro, told The Associated Press. He added: "She did not be familiar with who this man was until a day or two following this took place."
