An Innovative Light trick to see around corners

Scientists have found a new method to get images through scattering materials such as ice-covered glass or even skin, or still see around corners. A lot of investigate in recent years has focused on correcting for dispersion, mostly for medical applications. In 2010, a camera that can see around corners garnered much awareness, using a series of timed laser pulses to light up a scene and functioning what is around a corner from the timing of the reflections.

 SLMs modify what is recognized as the phase of an incoming light ray. Like a sequence of waves on the ocean that run over rocks or surfers, the waves in beam can be slowed down or redirected when they hit dispersion materials. The prototype device was just one of a huge many study efforts trying to break the difficulty of scattering.  The panel then realized that the similar approach can work in reflection, not passing through a scattering material but bouncing off of it, such as the case of light bouncing off a wall at a corner.

Rejoined EPEAT green registry: Apple

Apple has rejoined an environmental ratings scheme a week after quitting the programme. The u-turn follows a statement by San Francisco city officials that they intended to ban local agencies from buying Apple Mac computers. A senior vice president published a letter published on Apple's site by it’s of hardware engineering said the move to stop the registry had been an error.

Also noted the authority had a policy of only buying EPEAT-registered electronics where proper. iPads and iPhones would not have been affected as they are not covered by the plan. Apple helped set up the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool registry in 2006. It is designed to recognize which electronic devices pose the least risk to the environment.

Face book "likes"Fake users hurts

According to a study, companies are wasting large sums of money on adverts to gain likes from Face book members who have no real interest in their products. The opinion of the security expert has said some of the profiles appeared to be fakes run by computer programs to spread spam. The vast majority of Face book’s revenues come from advertising and its performance will be scrutinized when it releases its financial results on 26 July - the first such report since its flotation.

Likes are highly valued by many leading brands marketing departments. Graham Cluley of the security firm Sophos said that Spammers and malware authors can mass-produce false Face book profiles to help them extend dangerous links and spam, and trick people into befriending them. All of these companies have access to Face book’s analytics which allow them to see the identities of people who have liked their pages, yet this has not been flagged as an issue.
