A set of 65 old glass negatives bought for $45(£34) at a California garage sale are the long-lost work of the photographer Ansel Adams and might be worth as much as $200 million, (£128 million), it has been claimed.
A team of experts who analyzed the pictures, including handwriting on their packaging and weather conditions in the photographs, concluded beyond reasonable doubt they were Adams's work, created in the early part of his career.
Ansel Adams, regarded by many as the father of American photography, died in 1984 and was most famous for his black and white photographs of the West, particularly Yosemite national park in California. Up to 5,000 of his negatives were feared destroyed in a darkroom fire in 1937.
