President Barack Obama harassed the need for a significant and lasting political changeover in Egypt in a phone call with key ally King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, official said.
"The President spoke today with King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia about the condition in Egypt," the White House said in a speech.
"The President emphasizes the implication of taking instantaneous steps toward an arranged changeover that is meaningful, lasting, rightful, and responsive to the aspiration of the Egyptian people.
"The President also reaffirmed the long-term promise of the United States to stillness and security in the region."
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who is beneath siege after days of raging street objection is documented to be close to King Abdullah, who has intended efforts by what he said were "intruders" to hinder with Egypt's constancy.
