Radiation in salt water at the beach off Japan's tsunami-ravaged nuclear power plant has calculated several million times the lawful limit over the past few days, although officials contended Tuesday that the contagion still does not pose an instant danger.
Radiation has been pouring in to the Pacific from the Fukushima Dai-ichi plant since a 9.0-magnitude earthquake spawned a huge tsunami that inundated the complex. Over the weekend, workers there exposed a crack where highly contaminated water was spilling straight into the ocean.
Specialist has said that radiation dissipate quickly in the vast Pacific, except they have also said that it's unclear what the long-term effects of fat amounts of infectivity will be.
