UK cities get high-speed broadband money


The government has announced how it will divide the cash promised to 10 UK cities to permit them to make superfast broadband networks. The government wants to build the UK the best ever place in Europe by 2015. The money will be used to build city broad networks, contributing homes and businesses speeds of up to 100Mbps. London gets the main share of the £114m pot with £25m, followed by Leeds and Bradford, which will split £14.4m

These 10 cities have created striving and broad plans, which will turn them into digital leaders, and give their local economies a real boost. Alongside the government money, each city is expected to spend some of its own finances in the broadband projects.
