Government of Burkina Faso said unparalleled torrential rain flooded the capital city of Ouagadougou and its surrounding areas, harmful approximately 20,000 houses as well as a number of dams and bridges.
Public institutions including hospitals and power plants also suffered from injure due to overflowing water. The number of victims of the flood is expected to reach about 150 thousand people.
Under these circumstances, resources including food and medical supplies have become limited and a large number of evacuees have been forced to live in uncomfortable surroundings. The Government of Burkina Faso has been exerting any and all possible efforts to support these disaster victims, and has also requested first aid from the Government of Japan.
