Emanuel gone, Rouse in as chief of staff

President Barack Obama on Friday said a bittersweet goodbye to the lively and fierce manager of his White House, head of staff Rahm Emanuel, and elevated a calm and seasoned adviser, Pete Rouse, to the mainly important gate-keeping job in American government.

"We could not have talented what we've talented without Rahm's leadership," Obama said. Emanuel is departure after nearly two demanding years to run for Chicago mayor.

The statement was such a poorly kept clandestine that Obama joked it was "the least suspenseful announcement of all time," but it stand for an important moment of transition for the government.
