The Metropolitan Police has found a method to extract mobile phone data from suspects held in custody. According to Stephen Kavanagh Deputy Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, service mobile phones and other devices are more and more being used in all levels of illegal activity. Strategy given to officer’s state that data extraction can occur only if there is enough suspicion the mobile phone was used for wrong activity.
The technology is being used in 16 London boroughs, and could potentially be used by police force across the UK. The solution positioned inside the boroughs that enables trained officers to examine devices and gives instant access to the data in that receiver is welcomed. This device will allow officers to connect a suspect's mobile phone and make a print out of data from the machine, as well as saving digital records of the content.
