Police hope a car seized in Sydney's southwest may help them catch an armed thief who fired shots into a bank and forced two streets to be locked down.
An armed man wearing a balaclava allegedly entered a National Australia Bank on Holden Street in Lakemba about 12pm (AEST).
Police say he threatened team before firing a shot.
Initial investigations suggest no money was taken and no one was wounded during the incident.
Acting from a tip-off from a member of the public, police stopped up off Phillip St in Roselands and Moreton St in Lakemba for a number of hours while they canvassed the area and interviewed people in their homes.
