Welsh government launched a campaign to stop people smoking in cars when children’s are there. According to chief medical officer for Wales Dr Tony Jewell children in cars were predominantly at risk from second-hand smoke. An absolute proscribe will be considered depending on the achievement of the three-year movement.
Any legislation would fetch more than a few sticking points - not least the problem of how it could be imposed. A ban on smoking in cars carrying children will be considered presently in this five-year term of government if smoking levels do not decrease as an effect of the campaign. Even the lobby group Forest describes smoking in a car with a child as uncharitable but it draws the line at any idea of a ban.
