Former officer arrests himself for drinking and driving

POLICE have the arresting power in most situations, but cops in thier Boston lost their power early yesterday morning when a man arrested himself.

The man, Loren Stead, 40, who told police that he used to be an officer, was pulled over for speeding in the West Roxbury neighborhood.

Officers noticed Stead was sweating profusely and was breathing heavily. After they went back to the cruiser to check his license and registration, Stead left his vehicle and asked to be arrested.

"I was an officer for ten years, and I know that when you have take a long time that means you're going to take the person,” he said to police.
