Gene evidence: post traumatic pressure disorder threat

According to a study vulnerability to post-traumatic stress disorder could be partly determined by gene variants. Symptoms can contain flashbacks, feeling expressively numb or hyper-alert to danger, and avoiding situations that act as reminders of the original shock. PTSD can happen after any type of experience that causes shock, whether that is in war, after a usual tragedy or because of child mistreatment or sexual assault.

It found those who carried two gene variants which affect the production of serotonin - which affects mood and behavior - were more likely to display symptoms of PTSD.According to Dr Goenjian our conclusion may also help scientists uncover alternative treatments for the disorder, such as gene therapy or new drugs that regulate the chemicals responsible for PTSD symptoms.
