BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan --Ethnic violence overnight in the southern Kyrgyzstan, once the stronghold of ousted president Kurmanbek Bakiyev, has left with three people dead and 46 injured, the health ministry announced Friday.
Five of the 46 people in the hospital were in serious condition, the ministry statement added.
Hours earlier, Kyrgyzstan's interim government declared as state of emergency and a curfew from Friday in the regions affected, after clashes between ethnic Kyrgyz and ethnic Uzbek youths.
