Israel rejects 'preconditions' for direct peace talks


Israeli chief Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejects "preconditions" ahead of an predictable request to direct peace discussion with the Palestinians that may be based on a total resolution halt.

His remarks throughout a landmark visit to Greece came as Washington come into view to be closing in on the relaunch of direct talks after months of ferry diplomacy that have failed to induce the Palestinians to enter face-to-face talks.

"I hope to recommence direct talks with the Palestinians with no preconditions," Netanyahu said in Athens.

Former an official speaking on condition of secrecy had told AFP in Jerusalem "Israel is ready to start direct conference immediately, but with no any preconditions."
