A prototype of a 3D camera built by Sony & combined with Discovery was unveiled Sunday 11 April through the Digital Cinema Summit at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention.
John Honeycutt, executive vice president & head of international business operations at Discovery International, exposed the camera as well as revealing plans for a 3D channel from Discovery, Sony & Imax expected to launch this year.
Its technical specifications are which include 3-inch CMOS sensors per eye, Full HD (1920x1080), interchangeable lenses, convergence control & complete metadata support. Field tests are planned to start in July.
