Northern Territory Police say 3 crabbing boats, which were missing in the Gulf of Carpentaria, have been found after 9 days at sea.
Police found the 3 fishermen just after midday on a beach near the Limmen River, 100 kilometers south-west of Borroloola. Senior Sgt. Stephen Martin says they fired an emergency flare when a search plane flew overhead.
"They’re now believed to have left the Port McArthur area around Wednesday March 24, so they have been missing now for 9 days," he said.
It was feared the boats had been broken down by Tropical Cyclone Paul. All 3 boats had emergency beacons aboard and police don’t know why they were not activated. 5 recreational fishermen are still missing in the Gulf of Carpentaria Australia.
However, police say they’ve spotted 2 undamaged boats on a beach 65 kilometers north-west of Borroloola.
