Obama calling for more infrastructure spending

The President Barack Obama is asking assembly to endorse at least $50 billion in long-term expenditure in the nation's roads, railways and runway in a pre-election effort to show he's trying to rouse the sputtering economy.

The communications spending is part of a package of under attack proposals the White House announce on Monday. By means of November's elections for manage of Congress approaching, Obama planned to talk about the suggestion later Monday at a Labor Day event in Milwaukee.

The proposal would require congressional endorsement, which is highly uncertain with many legislators and voters worried about adding to central deficit that are already sky-high. With Republicans saying expenditure is out of control and polls showing many people want to end Democrats' manage of Congress, even many Democratic lawmakers are unwilling to approve new spending so close to Election Day.
