A dead bird found close to the Black Sea port of Varna has checked positive for the deadly H5N1 virus, officials of Bulgarian said.
The agriculture ministry said Thursday the tests on a regular buzzard were carrying out at the veterinary clinic. No other cases of the extremely pathogenic H5N1 strain of avian virus have been identified, but farmers were cautioned to the risks of passing by migratory & wild birds.
2 weeks ago, a bird flu outbreak was found at Romania & all its birds were killed. The European Commission says it is the first detection of bird flu in the European Union in a year, following an authenticated case in March 2009 involving a wild duck in Germany.
