Scientists have revealed the major mechanism by which thalidomide causes abnormal limbs in rising embryos. This was recognized after thousands of infected children were born to mothers who had been given the drug for morning sickness.In this research exposes that thalidomide binds to & renders inactive the protein cereblon, which is perform a key role in limb formation. This research could help the growth of safer thalidomide-like drugs.
The scientists complete their conclusion by using genetic techniques to decrease the production of the cereblon protein in up warding zebrafish & chick embryos.
