Police are hunting four men concerned in a violent home invasion in Stokes Valley, near Wellington on Wednesday night.It's believed the masked men entered a house at around 9.30pm carrying weapons with a sawn-off shotgun and a .22 calibre rifle and opened fire, wounding one man in the leg.
He was airlifted to Wellington Hospital where he is undergoing surgery on his injured leg. He is believed to be in a steady condition.
A woman at the property also sustained moderate head injuries when she was struck in the head by one offenders' rifle butts and has been taken to Hutt Hospital.
