Pak troops detain Taliban base

A most important Taliban base in the north-western tribal area of Bajaur has been captured by Pakistani troops after being of violent fighting, officials say. Troops are now advancing on the militants' major working out area in the Damadola district of Bajaur. Local residents say 100 of citizens are fleeing the area to get away the fighting.

Militants have newly re-established themselves in Bajaur after a military nasty group them out in 2008. Armed forces overran the Sewai spot in the Mamund district of Bajaur on Sunday night, a senior official in Bajaur's major city, Khar said.

The official said that troops had captured a number of main heights in the area for the period of Monday's fighting. The army has been beating Taliban positions by fighter jets and jumbo jet gunships. At least 15 militants and 1 soldier were reported killed.
