Police kill 2 black migrants in Egypt

Egyptian border police gunshot dead 2 African migrants who tried to run away into Israel throughout the Sinai border, bringing the no of migrants killed this week to 4. Police sources say they refused commands to stop. They were a 26-year-old Eritrean & a 27-year-old migrant of unidentified nationality.

One more migrant from Eritrea was seriously hurt by police as the clandestine group attempted to get to Israel, AFP reported on Thursday. Observers say amplified violence at the border is partly due to the rising popularity of the route, seen as safer than risking way by sea from Libya to Europe.

Egyptian Police say they have held another 5 Eritreans and 3 Ethiopians who tried to enter Israel on Wednesday. Dozens of defenseless Africans, many from Eritrea, Ethiopia and Sudan, looking for work or haven in Israel were killed by Egyptian limit guards last year, while 5 have died this year.
