Putting a smile on someone's face doesn't have to cost a cent , that's the message behind Random Acts of Kindness Day, which takes place on Tuesday.
Organiser Megan Singleton said the day was a possibility for people to prove New Zealand was the kindest nation on earth.
"We're challenging people to step out and do something kind for someone else."
Singleton and her friends came up with the idea to cheer people to get to know one another better.
