A Delhi court on Thursday awarded 5 yrs locking up to a man and co-accused for defacing a girl via throwing acid as she neglected his marriage proposal. The court too asked the man and the co-accused to pay Rs 1.6 lak's recompense to the girl for plastic surgical treatment of her face."As the convicts have caused injure to a girl of marriageable age by pouring acid on her face and defaced her, they are ordered to undergo rigorous jail term of 5 years and also pay a fine of Rs 1 lakh each, Additional Sessions Judge Suresh Chand Rajan of a quick track court said.
The court, which absolved convicts Raj Sharma and Pawan Sharma of the serious charge of go to murder under the IPC, held them at fault of hatching a conspiracy and causing injure to victim Laxmi Rao on the night of May 2, 2004, by Lajpat Nagar in New Delhi. "80 per cent of the whole fine is given to the victim to permit her to get her face complete by way of plastic surgical treatment, the court whispered.
