The 2010 Haiti earthquake was of catastrophic magnitude of 7.0 Mw. Its epicenter was at Leogane, about 16 mile west of Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti. The earthquake struck at 16:53:10 local time (21:53:10 UTC) on Tuesday, 12 January 2010, at a depth of 13 km. The United States Geological Survey recorded a series of at least 33 aftershocks; in which fourteen of them were having a magnitude of 5.0 and 5.9.
It’s been eight days since a 7.0 magnitude earthquake distressed Haiti .the earthquake which struck Haiti again on 20th morning is of magnitude 5.9-6.1 which resulted in petrified survivors and vulnerable rescue and relief efforts. This strong aftershock also resulted in more physical harm and further made survivors of the disaster to drown in fear. Above all these things one thing which affects the Haiti victims the most is untreated injuries, Because of these untreated injuries and dismal sanitary conditions causes many infectious diseases. If it’s not immediately controlled Haiti will lose many more lives
While this earthquake made everyone to drown in shock there are still incredible recoveries in progress. For instance yesterday, a 70-year-old woman was pulled from the debris and today, a five-year-old boy was astonishingly pulled from beneath a collapsed home. The current victim count is at 72,000 and Haitian officials anticipate that death rate would increase.
