Former X feature contestants One Direction have turn out to be the first British group to leave directly to the top of the US tune charts with their entrance album. X Factor moderator and music executive Simon Cowell signed the band to his record label Syco Music last year. According to Ernie D, the inspired director of Radio Disney such bands were finding success much more rapidly than their predecessors in the 1990s.
The group has been busy through their US promotional tour, which has included playing a sequence of gigs with US boy band Big Time Rush and an appearance on breakfast program. One Direction's quantity one follows their successful debut in the singles graph with What Makes You Beautiful last month, which went to number 28 in the Hot 100.
