A novel world speed record for the best 3D-printed nano objects has been claimed by researchers in Austria. To produce the automobile about 100 layers, each consisting of 200 single printed lines, were created by Vienna University of Technology's equipment. It involves focusing a laser ray onto liquid resin to solidify it, leaving behind a line of solid polymer just a few nanometers broad.
The procedure gets its name because the resin only sets if the molecules in it soak up two photons of the laser ray at one time which only happens at the very centre of the beam. According to Prof Jurgen Stampfl, The knowledge itself is reasonably well known in the discipline arena, but the difficulty was that it was always extremely slow.
