US exempts Japan and EU nations from Iran oil sanctions

The US management will not force sanctions on Japan and 10 European Union nations that have reduced their oil imports from Iran. The European countries that have been excused are France, Germany, Belgium, Greece, Italy, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and the UK. Iran faces worldwide force to address concerns over its nuclear enrichment program.

The European Union has also increased its sanctions on Iran, banning new oil contracts and phasing out existing ones from 1 July. The shift by the US administration means Japan, which is the second major importer or Iranian oil after China, might carry on buying some oil from Iran with no revealing its banks to penalties.
