According to Chancellor George Osborne which cities will benefit from a £100m pot of Treasury cash aimed at making them super-connected. The main concern should be the stipulation of a quality service to rural areas previous to pursuing the title of fastest broadband in the world. The government will also think whether straight interference is necessary to improve mobile coverage for rail passengers.
The opinion of Seb Lahtinen, co-founder of broadband news site Think Broadband is that he moves was part of a force to make sure that not merely is the UK the most excellent in Europe in terms of broadband speeds, but can compete on an international stage next to countries like South Korea. Financial support would come out of the £150m investment announced in the Autumn Statement.
