http://news-updations.blogspot.com/Some residents in the Taieri region northwest of Dunedin have been vacated as firefighters tackle a forest blaze. Helicopters with monsoon buckets are being used to brawl the fire in the Mt Allan forestry block.

It began about 3.30pm, probably ignited by logging equipment, Wenita Forest Products Ltd chief executive Dave Cormack said. Forestry contractors left the area instantly as the fire quickly increase over 30 hectares. Some houses nearby were leaved and the Taieri Gorge train trip was held up.

A rural fire spokesman said firefighters were receiving control of 1 side of the blaze & trying to control the other side which had been admired by westerly winds.
