CATHOLIC school teachers looking for improved pay will strike above 40 schools across Queensland today. Associates of the Queensland Independent Education Union (QIEU) will also take out from co-curricular activities.
It affects 288 catholic schools by the industrial action, with 7 schools closing.
Catholic Education Commission executive director says 5 schools in the Cairns region, 1 in Toowoomba & 1 in Brisbane have chosen to close while the majority of schools have adapted programs to make do with fewer staff. The union claims the staffs are working under lowest paid.
