Climate satellite launching process postponed

http://news-updations.blogspot.com/The European Space Agency (ESA) said it had set the date of Apr 8 for the delayed launch of CryoSat-2. It is designed to see how Earth's ice sheets respond to climate change.

In this satellite launch had been penciled for February 25, from Russia's Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. It was delayed to probe fears that the 2nd-stage engine's fuel reserve was not enough.

For the period of the investigation, the Ukrainian company responsible for the in general design of the Dnepr launcher, Yuzhnoye SDO, & the company that develops the launcher's control system, Hartron-Arkos, confirmed that the percentage of fuel to oxidiser could be adjusted to advance the performance of the 2nd stage engine,' ESA said in a press release.

'In this small change involved modifying the software that manages the fuel usage. The alterations have since been made & validated. Now the launch of satellite is scheduled on1357 GMT on Apr 8.
