Samson and Delilah star Rowan McNamara has been in detention and charged with jumping on vehicles at a car park in Alice Springs. The 16-year-actor, who played Samson in the film, was supposedly seen by at least 2 people stomping on the roofs of cars about 9pm on Friday, the Centralian Advocate reports.
Police arrested Rowan McNamara not far from the car park a short time later. The teenager is facing 6 counts of unlawfully damaging property and has been bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Youth Justice Court on April 6.
According to the newspaper, the damaged vehicles included 2 Toyota Camrys, a Ford Falcon, a Ford Laser, a Honda Civic and a Nissan Patrol. The car park was across the road from the Memo Club, the biggest social club in Alice Springs.
Rowan McNamara garnered international praise for his portrayal of Samson in last year’s film by writer-director Warwick Thornton. He won both AFI as well as IF awards for his performance, as the film experienced similar success including taking the prestigious Camera D’or at the Cannes Film Festival.
