Space shuttle Endeavour is rocketing to the space station on 1 of the shuttle program's last scheduled missions. Endeavour and its team of 6 blasted off early Monday.The pre-dawn launch was the last one in darkness if the rest of the shuttle schedule holds. Only 4 extra shuttle flights are missing. Endeavor is carrying a new room for the International Space Station and an surveillance deck. These are the final main pieces for the orbiting complex.
The shuttle is programmed to reach the space station Wednesday. Its flight was belated a day by cloudy weather. The Obama Administration has yet to give specifics on what happens after the last operation this fall. NASA's back-to-the-moon Constellation plan is a casualty under the new budget plan.
